Book 10 - Chapter 27

"Fishclan," called Berrystar. "We have an announcement to make, we have had the request to make a warrior today. I agree with the to parents of the this cat. Appledawn and Birchtail have requested that we make Fishpaw a warrior and we agree that it is indeed time for make Fishpaw a warrior. She has definitely proven that she is loyal to our clan and that she is worthy of her warrior name. Fishpaw do you promise to always be loyal to our clan and serve your clan even at the cost of your life?" Fishpaw looked around at the assembled c lan before speaking loudly and clearly to the leaders, "I promise  to always serve my clan and my clan only. I do promise and you can count on me to serve you Fishclan," said Fishpaw. Berrystar looked down at the apprentice proudly, "Then by the power and authority that has given to me by our ancestors as the clan leader of Fishclan I give Fishpaw her warrior name.   Fishpaw from this time on you will be known as Fishfur a loyal and dedicated warrior of Fishclan. We will honor you as a member of Fishclan." Appledawn and Birchtail were beaming with pride as their oldest daughter was now a warrior of the clan that they served with their life, however the other kittens were not happy. "Why should they request to have Fishpaw no excuse me Fishfur become a warrior but not the rest of her kittens. We work just as hard as she did if not more, there is nothing special about Fishfur." they whispered. Appledawn turned and cuffed each of the apprentices over the head with a paw and said, "Don't speak like that, you shouldn't be speaking badly about your clan mates, nonetheless your own sister." While the apprentices still didn't say anything Birchtail spoke, "Don't me tell Mossfur what you were saying, for she would have something to say you can be sure of that. You don't want to be spending the next 5 moons helping other cats instead of training, or else then you will never become a warrior." He threatened then all the apprentices nodded glumly and padded away.

Book 10 - Chapter 26

All the cats looked around the clearing and then turned their attention to Blackmint, "There is a secret reason that I was named Blackmint. The name was requested by my parents to the clan leader, and there I was. A dear friend of mine left my family to become medicine cat, far away where she could learn about a larger variety of different plants. She kept returning in my dreams, for a reason and then one day I followed her in my dreams and she brought me very far away from the clan areas I knew. She taught me everything about all the plants that she had learned about in her new home area. When I woke up I was back in my clan and I still had the plants with me. I hurried to the medicine cat den and I told the medicine cat at the time that was there which I believe was Morningflower. She was delighted about how much I knew about these new herbs, and she told the other medicine cats. I knew everything about every herb except for one herb. It was a black plant, with a fuzzy texture but spiked edges. It was a little bit crinkly but kept for a long time. It tasted like a mint plant so I made up the name of a frozen black mint plant, it didn't sound very real like that was the true name of the plant, but Morningflower excepted it. Then I had to go and train for my warrior ceremony, but what I didn't know until after my warrior ceremony that my parents had gone to the leader of the clan and told them what I had done, and they asked if I could be named Blackmint because I told the medicine cats of a mint that cure d a deadly disease that the clan had been exposed to once or twice before. They were very proud of me and the leader understood that so they gave me the warrior name Blackmint in honor of my knowledge of plants." The leaders nodded and then Pinkpoppy went up to Blackmint and started asking questions, and Blackmint gladly answered them. The clan then nodded and soon the medicine cats went to Blackmint if they had a question about a foreign plant.

Book 10 - Chapter 25

Rivera was watching Birchtail and stalking towards the center of the clearing to begin her story for the day. "I have a story to tell, it is very similar to Mossfur's story. Although I have not always had a warrior code to guide me. I have had my own code of sorts, the house cats have always had a code to live by. I don't believe that loyalty is the most important, no matter who you are or where you live that matters, what matters the most is who you are loyal to. As a house cat some clan cats may not believe in a thing I say or they might not take us seriously, but I do know that it is the truth, it won't matter if you aren't loyal or are loyal. If you are loyal to someone or a group or side that isn't good or a side that is good doesn't matter. As long as you are giving your best to a group is what matters, as long as you want what is best for the group that you live with proves you are loyal. Loyalty to a group is what matters the most, without loyalty there would be no group to care for. If no cats are loyal and they only care for themselves, then there is no true group and no reason to live in a group. So I feel that if you betray a cat, human, animal even yourself, you don't deserve to be called loyal. So that is why I guard my loyalty to myself, the clan even my old human owner so fiercely." When Rivera finished speaking Appledawn, Sagewind and Birchtail were all bristling and glaring, "So you're saying that Birchtail isn't worthy of being called a loyal warrior just because he betrayed your human," snarled Appledawn. Rivera stared at the warrior in the clearing below before speaking, "I never said anything of the sort," she told the younger warrior. "You were thinking it though, and you wanted to say it," snapped Sagewind. Rivera calmly sat down and looked at the queen glaring at her,"I would never say something bad about any of my clan mates, a good habit that I learned. Also, how would you know what I am thinking? You are not me." Birchtail was the one who stood up and spoke "I don't know for a fact that you are thinking that I shouldn't be allowed the title of a loyal warrior but I can almost 100% safely say that you are thinking that." "How would you know that is true, and how are you almost 100% certain that I am thinking that?" said Rivera sheathing and unsheathing her claws. "I know you, you would never say something like that out loud but you would say it in your head, and I know that, that is what you think of me," growled Birchtail in return. Finally the leaders pushed their way in-between the two cats and spoke to the whole clan. "We thank Rivera for sharing, and I think that she is right it is not loyalty that matters the most it is whether or not you are loyal," said Berrystar. The clan nodded and went back to sharing stories quietly with each other before heading off to bed.

Book 10 - Chapter 24

Mousetail wandered over to the fresh prey pile and searched it until he found the animal he was looking for his presentation. He grabbed a couple mice around the clearing and padded around giving a mouse to Pinkpoppy, Darkflower, and Whiteberry. Then he went and stood at the center of the clearing to begin. "Clan mates I have the warrior name Mousetail, and there is a reason that the animal that I can hunt the best is the mouse. It is because I know how mice hunt and run away from predators. I can see form their vantage point, I can see out of a mouse's eyes if I try hard enough. I will demonstrate. Mousetail closed his eyes and when he opened his eyes he was sitting on the ground at Pinkpoppy's feet, he shook out his fur and in a second Mousetail had replaced the mouse at Pinkpoppy's feet but he was as small as a mouse. The clan stared at him, he then moved to Darkflower. He stood up and shook out his fur returning to his normal size, "I use this trick to help me hun the mice, it could also help for getting underneath small spaces, or just seeing what is under something that small." He once again disappeared with a blink of his eyes. He reappeared at Whiteberry's feet and then he scurried under a bush and reappeared with a long pale pink ribbon. All the cats believed Mousetail from then on and he was able to help the clan in other ways now that they knew his secret and power.

Book 10 - Chapter 23

Every cat turned their head to the center of the clearing anticipating Fernflash's story. Fernflash turned and got ready to start her story, "I was born in the clan and as you know I was offered the position of medicine cat but I refused. I would much rather be a warrior, hunting and fighting for the clan instead of having to pick plants and heal our clan mates. I am not saying I feel to important to me a medicine cat, it is just I could never pick a plant or harm a plant by picking one even if it was to heal one of my clan mates. That is why I refused to be a medicine cat. The reason that I refused to be a medicine cat is as you know I had some siblings, a brother and a sister. Then one day as you know they were going to meet out ancestors to talk about some important matter to the clan, but then they never returned to the clan. So I went and searched for them, I found their foot prints and the direction they walked in to return home, but no cats. So I followed the tracks even as the veered of course towards the mountains, after walking for a day or two I found them. They were standing behind a large black cat who seemed not to come from this world, so I am assuming that he had come from the Dark Forest, he said that the Dark Forest needed to test something out and that these two cats were the perfect two to be tested on. The cat glowed like the night sky and then it shot something at the two cats but before it reached the cats something intercepted them and they hit the beam of light before the were supposed to, and they were turned into plants. The beam of light should have given them powers of a plant but instead they became plants. I brought them to our ancestors and they said that unless I could get the cat that casted the spell then most likely the cats were going to be like that until they joined the stars. I still have the two plants, I have taken care of them since, hoping one day I might be able to turn them back." The clan gathered around Fernflash and her plants and then they wandered back to their nests for the evening.

Book 10 - Chapter 22

Breezebolt walked towards the center of the clearing where every cat that was to share a story stood, "Tonight it is my turn to share a story with the clan, As you know my name when I was first born was Breezekit. There is a reason, as you know every kitten is supposed to be named for a certain reason, there is a reason that I was named Breezekit. It wasn't just because I was a fast kit. The reason was I could and can still control breezes. My mother requested that I was named Breezebolt because I could conjure breezes that came in bolts like lightening bolts but made of air. The nursery was always very breezy when I was around so my mother created a nest just outside the nursery for me to sleep in because the other kittens weren't able to sleep with my breezes. I was young at the time and I couldn't control my power so many times my mother had me stay away from the other kittens to keep from any incidents occurring." The clan looked thoughtful before Cherrypaw spoke up, "Is that why when we are sometimes practicing certain skills that any warrior should have that there is some sudden gusts of wind that move practice prey around, or so I could mimic how I should hunt so smells aren't drifted to the prey?" she asked. Breezebolt nodded why not use my power to help the cats in my clan become warriors." The clan nodded to Breezebolt's statement, and they looked forward to Fernflash's story who was going to be sharing the next day.

Book 10 - Chapter 21

Skyleap to had a story to share with the clan. "Cats of Fishclan this is not only my story but someone else's I will tell it how it impacts me. I have kept a secret from every cat, even my mate. As you know I have agreed to take in the kitten Mosskit. I am letting Nightblaze take care of him however. There is a reason for that, he didn't tell me truth about his parents but I felt that by giving a kitten shelter is the way I could repay Fishclan because I was once in his position. I was clan born as I believe Mosskit is, although I am not positive. I was born and then my parents abandoned me, telling me that it was for the best, and that if they could ever come back for me they would. They promised me that if they could come back and claim me as their own then I would be welcomed, they only problem was they were in a tough situation and having a kitten known to the enemy would make it worse, especially if I was kidnapped. So I was raised by a cat that I believed to be true family to me until I was given the truth by one of our ancestors. I believe that raising Mosskit I will be able to right the wrong, it was wrong of his parents to leave him all alone without a word of their trace, I didn't want what happened to me to happen to him so I helped him remember some of his early kitten hood even though I still don't know who his parents are. I promised the clan that I would forever be loyal and a current queen my duty is to raise kits, and to raise a kit that was put in the same situation as I was, was what I had to do." The clan nodded looking from Mosskit to Skyleap.

Book 10 - Chapter 20

Rowanfur watched the clan with narrow eyes before standing up and padding towards the center of the clearing to began his story. "As you know I wasn't born in this clan but I am clan born. I was born when there were 4 clans in the forest. As you know every cat only gets one chance to live, I was an exception to that statement. I was born 4 times within a week of each other. I was born in all 4 clans. I was able to train in one clan one day and then turn back time and train in another clan. I was named the same thing in every clan. I learned all the ways of every clan. I even looked the same. Then one day I was told by our ancestors that I had to choose which clan I was going to live in forever no knowing that all the clans would merge together one day. As you know I chose Mossclan, so I had to fake my deaths in every other clan and the spirits told me that I when I woke up I was going to be a kitten in Mossclan.  All the other clans would forget my existence in their clan only that I was a kitten named Rowankit in Mossclan. Time was turned back so Mossclan didn't remember there being 2 of me. I was allowed to keep my memories and truly experience the joy of living and being a benefit to a clan. It was amazing however I have always held an advantage over the other clans in battle because I know the ways that every cat trained their apprentices. I never spied or betrayed the clans that I had seen glimpses of lives in, otherwise that would lead to suspicion. I  have allowed been a loyal warrior, and I have used all of the skills of every clan to help the current Fishclan grow stronger and survive." All the cats looked curiously at Rowanfur, and soon many cats were asking him what it was like, and if he was telling the truth. They began to quiz him on all the clans, and soon the clan realized that he was telling the truth about his past just like every other cat who has shared a story.

Book 10 - Chapter 19

Blossomfur looked around and stared at the clan cats looked at her and she began her story, "I have a secret and a story to share myself. As you know when we were traveling 4 cats working for Darkfinch tricked us. They gave us names and a situation and we believed that they are being truthful. I do believe that they were being truthful about their names though, because the one cat Cherry as she said her name was looked familiar. Now I remember where I remember seeing Cherry. Do you remember how I had a friend named Berry? Well remember he went and lived with a cat named Cherry? I know that Cherry lived in an human home, and Berry joined her. I know this sounds crazy but I believe that Berry and Cherry both went and joined Darkfinch. When I first met Darkfinch it was in a tunnel, I went and rescued Berry that night. The only thing was it didn't seem like a rescue. Berry was well fed and happy, and he wasn't locked in the cage he was sitting there happily. I think that the only way Darkfinch has been able to find us is because of me. Berry has always been able to tell how I am, what  am feeling without having to lift a paw to do it. He was had this connection with me, that is so strong nothing can break it. He has always been able to tell where I am and what I am doing. If Berry is working for Darkfinch then there is nothing that can stop them from finding us, except for one thing. If I can get it to work it can break any bond there is. I just don't want to do it unless I absolutely have to. I have always liked knowing that Berry can tell everything about me, it mad sit easier to talk to him." The clan couldn't believe it, but they were ready to do anything to help Blossomfur break free of the bond she had with Berry if Blossomfur ever gave the word that she wanted to.

Book 10 - Chapter 18

Ashstorm looked out at the clan and waited for the leaders of the clan to give her the signal to start her story when they did she began, "As everyone of the clan knows I am a dedicated and loyal warrior of Fishclan. I always have been and I always will be. I know how Ashstar died and I know that there is more to that story then Littlemouse or Ashstar said there was. I know this because when you share the beginning of a name with some one, or you are connected by our ancestors you can tell how they are feeling and how they are doing and what happened to them at all times. I know that Ashstar didn't receive her 9 lives when she went to receive them when Tigerstar left the clan with the tigers. She wasn't considered a true leader of the clans and she wasn't to receive her 9 lives. She returned home to her clan and she kept up the ways of a clan leader like any other leader would. She faked having 9 lives for the sake and the good of her clan. She than came down with green cough almost overnight. She fell deadly ill, and had fevers and chills. Through the night, the next morning a leader found her curled in a ball refusing to move. She asked them to get Littlemouse for he had seen her leadership ceremony. A few moments later she died, and then she didn't rise. I guess you could say that I have some of the powers of our ancestors and I know what is going to happen and what is happening with our ancestors because the cat that I share a name with is one of our ancestors. Appledawn and Applepaw this will happen once Applepaw will receive her warrior name. Blacktail and Blackmint I am sure you have noticed this connection between the two of you.. Whiteclaw and Whiteberry, even though Whiteclaw you weren't born in the clan there will be some connection. Mossfur and Mosskit, if Mosskit you were born in the clan than you will have the connection once Mosskit you are a warrior. Even Silverfrost and Silverpaw. This connection is a bond that can never be broken, and it is what makes up the clan. Be warned however sharing a name and having the power to know what is happening is not the best power in the world." All the cats sat there staring in amazement when the cats with the same names realized that it was true.

Book 10 - Chapter 17

Seedwhisker nodded to the clan leaders and waited for the clan to quiet before speaking, "Do you remember when we were traveling over the mountains and we ran into a strange cat and we ran into Darkfinch? I know he said something to me and I retorted in some way that he obviously didn't like because he then turned and glared at me. As you know what I did next was not like me, I did not act like me. It was weird, I acted and I was moving. It was like under a curse, basically I was moving without wanting to. There is a reason for that. When Darkfinch looked at me it felt like fire and ice at the exact same time. It was like my fur burned like it was on fire and then it felt like I was frozen in a block of ice. It felt like I was not in control of me which I wasn't. Darkfinch or some other cat was in charge of my body making me do what they wanted me to do, and so that was what I had to do. It was different feeling than I had never felt before, it was different and I had never experienced the feeling before it was completely new. I had never lost control of myself before, I had always been in control and I had been able to tell myself what to do or what not to do and I would listen to me. This time I didn't. Sometimes I still feel like I don't have control, I am worried that Darkfinch may be able to control me still and see everything that I see. Also since I have kits I am worried that I have passed on the curse of being able to be controlled by Darkfinch to them. Unless I can find a way to break this curse or find a way to prove I don't have it and won't have it in the year to come I might not be able to have kittens without worrying that I will pass this on." All the cats gasped and nodded and then tried to help with all the power that they have to help Seedwhisker break free of this so called curse.

Book 10 - Chapter 16

Nightblaze looked around at the cats staring back at him. Sparrowstar nods for him to go on. "I have always cherished the clan and I am honored that I was able to live and be a part of the clan. I have a secret, I will never be able to give the clan kittens, I will never be allowed a mate, or kittens of my own. So by letting me mentor the apprentices of the clan, you are letting me be responsible for a young cat, even if I will never be their true parent. I am allowed the experience of being responsible for a younger cat, a chance that I will never be allowed with a kitten. I wish more than anything that I could have a mate and kittens of my own but I never will be allowed to. I am thankful that the clan let me experience what it is like to care for another even more than you care about yourself. Someone you would be willing to die for. I never knew what that was like until I became a mentor and was responsible for a young cat's safety. I  can't explain how grateful I am to the clan and its clan leaders, for without them I really wouldn't know anything about caring for another cat. I believe that caring and loving and being loyal to your clan mates is what makes a clan strong. So without the clan, I wouldn't know what it is like to care or love another cat as family. Therefore I wouldn't be as strong or as loyal as I am today. The clan has made me who I am.  "Wait a minute I have an idea," said Skyleap. "As you know Mistkit and Dustkit are now eating prey instead of milk, and so is Mosskit, because they persuaded him to try it. Mosskit now likes prey over milk, he doesn't need me. Nightblaze would you like to raise Mosskit as your own kit, he doesn't need anything that you cannot get him?" Nightblaze looked at the tiny kit and Skyleap in surprise. "If Mosskit agrees than I would be more then willing to raise him." Mosskit nodded and the clan looked happy for the two cats, than they settled down for the night awaiting the next days stories.

Book 10 - Chapter 15

Cloudsplash looked over at his old mentor and watched as the senior warrior helped his clan. "As you know I used to be the senior warrior of the clan, until the clan decided that I shouldn't be the senior warrior. Birchtail took my place and I am forever grateful that I was given the chance to be the senior warrior and learn what it would be like to be that big of a deal and a part of a clan that is strong. I never thought in my wildest dreams that being a senior warrior would be that much work and that hard. I was willing to step down and let a cat with more capabilities take my place Maybe one day, maybe never I will get that chance again. There are many other cats in the clan that will be great senior warriors and maybe one day leaders of Fishclan. I just wasn't the right cat, and being the senior warrior let me see that. It let me see what I needed to be as a cat. I made me learn some of my strengths and my weaknesses, it let me learn about the true me. I am going to be forever thankful and I will never be able to repay you the clan for letting me see the truth about me. I will try to repay you as long as I live. I will never stop being loyal to the clan that helped me see, the real me. I was hidden inside of the me that I thought I had to be and the me that I thought I was, you helped me see that, that wasn't true, and that every cat is perfect just the way they are, so I just hope I can find a way to repay you in the future." The clan looked at each other before nodding, in agreement they knew and they knew that Cloudsplash was telling the truth and he would never be loyal to anyone else.

Book 10 - Chapter 14

Dragonwhisker spoke in his usual low growl, "As you know I came from and I was born in Fishclan. I was born in the Fishclan when there were 4 clans. I have had lots of family members in this clan. I have seen cats come and go from this clan with Tigerclan and with Darkfinch. I never thought that I would ever want anything more than Fishclan. I had my siblings and the one cat that I had ever wanted more leave me for Darkfinch and his promises. They all betrayed Fishclan, some of the cats of our clan left because they wanted to, some left because Darkfinch insisted that he got cats from our clan. I however have a strength, although I also have a weakness. I know what is going on with Darkfinch at all times, I sneak out at night and I meet with a cat. I meet with Hollyflower, and Dapplepaw. Neither of them wanted to leave the clan. Dapplepaw informs me on the weaknesses of the group. Hollyflower informs me on the strengths of the group, and she refuses to say anything bad about her mate, Tigerstar who has settled in nicely. I know Darkfinch's training methods and all that sort of stuff, and that can be used as a strength. My weakness is that I am meeting the mate of Tigerstar, I am meeting Hollyflower. Hollyflower was always a sweet kitten in the clan and if any cat finds out that Hollyflower and Dapplepaw are spies nothing good can await their future. Especially since Tigerstar knows that I will have tried to communicate to Hollyflower ever since she had left the clan. I will give you all the clues of Darkfinch in exchange for one thing, rescuing Hollyflower and Dapplepaw from Darkfinch's clutches. They are still clinging to life waiting to see if they could ever escape." All the cats crowded Dragonwhisker wishing to know all of Darkfinch's secrets, but Dragonwhisker true to his word refused to speak a word about it until Hollyflower and Dapplepaw were safe from Darkfinch.
