Book 10 - Chapter 23

Every cat turned their head to the center of the clearing anticipating Fernflash's story. Fernflash turned and got ready to start her story, "I was born in the clan and as you know I was offered the position of medicine cat but I refused. I would much rather be a warrior, hunting and fighting for the clan instead of having to pick plants and heal our clan mates. I am not saying I feel to important to me a medicine cat, it is just I could never pick a plant or harm a plant by picking one even if it was to heal one of my clan mates. That is why I refused to be a medicine cat. The reason that I refused to be a medicine cat is as you know I had some siblings, a brother and a sister. Then one day as you know they were going to meet out ancestors to talk about some important matter to the clan, but then they never returned to the clan. So I went and searched for them, I found their foot prints and the direction they walked in to return home, but no cats. So I followed the tracks even as the veered of course towards the mountains, after walking for a day or two I found them. They were standing behind a large black cat who seemed not to come from this world, so I am assuming that he had come from the Dark Forest, he said that the Dark Forest needed to test something out and that these two cats were the perfect two to be tested on. The cat glowed like the night sky and then it shot something at the two cats but before it reached the cats something intercepted them and they hit the beam of light before the were supposed to, and they were turned into plants. The beam of light should have given them powers of a plant but instead they became plants. I brought them to our ancestors and they said that unless I could get the cat that casted the spell then most likely the cats were going to be like that until they joined the stars. I still have the two plants, I have taken care of them since, hoping one day I might be able to turn them back." The clan gathered around Fernflash and her plants and then they wandered back to their nests for the evening.
