Book 6 - Chapter 4

"Sandswish?" "Darkfinch!" "Yes?" "I would like to talk to you." "Fine but I insist I bring my deputy." "Ok, but I get to bring Sparrowfur." Darkfinh eyes narrowed but he nodded. "Liontail, come here we are to speak with Berrystar and Sparrowfur." Liontail the white and tan tom padded over to his leaders side. "Liontail has done you a favor. He defeated the badgers…" "Then he killed Sandswish. "He was protecting himself. Doesn't the warrior code say defend your clan with your life? We have a clan of a sort. A group maybe you could call it. Then we are supposed to be loyal to the group over everything. He was being loyal to his group. Sandswish could have been a threat to our clan and that means he had to defend his group from her." "How do you know she would have been a threat?" snapped Sparrowfur. "She attacked me," Liontail flicked his broken tail under Sparrowfur's nose. "I know she attacked you, but she was defending her clan. You didn't have to kill her." "What was she defending her clan from? The cat that saved her clan?" asked Darkfinch. "He killed two of her clan mates of course she thought he was a threat." "She should have realized what she had gotten herself into. A fight has only one way of defeat. Every cat on my side knows that." "What is that defeat asked Sparrowfur. "Death. Your warrior code is the only thing that stops you from being true warriors. The warrior code says that you don't need to kill to win a battle, therefore that means you aren't true warriors." "We are all true warriors. A true warrior doesn't need to kill to win a battle. A true warrior should see that from the very beginning." snarled Berrystar. "What true warrior hides in the the shadows and lets other cats get away to fight another day. The warrior code says stay loyal and protect with your life right?" asked Liontail. "That is right." said Berrystar slowly. "So that means if you stop a cat from threatening your clan then you are still following the warrior code. The code also says defend your clan for your life. If you have to die to defend your clan then you are still following the warrior code. Aren't you?" 

Book 6 - Chapter 3

The cats raced into formation at Sparrowfur's command. "Kits,  and elders and the middle. Apprentices with badger fighting training stay with their mentors. Apprentices without badger fighting techniques stay with the kits. Warriors and queens around the elders and kits. Medicine cats stay with the kits. Deputies, Senior Warrior and leader help where ever possible. We have to stop this enemy." Berrystar nodded. The cats stood their ground hissing. Then the badgers attacked. The Fishclan cats were losing when Darkfinch appeared again. He flicked his tail and Liontail raced down the path. He landed neatly on the back of a badger and sent 3 fleeing after he killed one. Liontail raced around the clearing saving cats. Soon all the badgers had been sent fleeing. "Thank…" Berrystar had turned to thank the cat and realized that it was Liontail. "Liontail." Berrystar said. Sandswish threw herself at Liontail. "You killed Ottertail and Brightpool." Liontail turned and met her with a swipe that slammed her to the ground. Liontail growled and lunged. Sandswish dodged and bit down on Liontail's tail. Berrystar stared because Sandswish actually caused Liontail's tail to break. Liontail ducked and bit down on Sandswish's paw. She stumbled and Liontail pounced. He pulled of clumps of fur from her spine. "Stop!" Berrystar yowled. "What is it?" asks Darkfinch. "Do you deny cats our natural ability to fight?" Berrystar opened his mouth to speak and was cut off as Dakrfinch spoke again. "The only reason you have lost cats is it is because you don't allow fighting." "I don't allow unfair fighting," retorted Berrystar. "How are the fights unfair? It is one cat on one cat." said Darkfinch. "Help." called Sandswish. "Blossompaw go find Emberberry." said Berrystar. Blossompaw nodded and raced away. As soon as Emberberry got there he said, "It is to late." 

Book 6 - Chapter 2

"What?" demanded Berrystar. Seedwhisker padded forward. "Do you think that we are going to give you some of our warriors?" Darkfinch turned and growled at the golden warrior. Seedwhisker crouched and looked up at the black cat. "Do you agree or do we have to fight you in the end?" "I agree but do you choose the cats you get?"   "Yes we do." "Alright who are you choosing?"  "Dustkit, Aspenwish, Dapplepaw, Ashcloud, Littlemouse and Hollyflower." The cats stared. "Fine." The cats padded away. "I need to appoint a new senior warrior apparently. Sandswish is now the senior warrior. Congratulations."  Sandswish stepped forward. "Thank you." Berrystar nodded. "Serafina, what are you doing here in the first place?" "Remember your deal with the cat?" The cat that had been sitting in the snow had reappeared. "I am an ancestor of yours and I can see what your future will bring if you choose either option. The will be great destruction. You homes will be destroyed your clan will fall. There will be one cat left standing. Depending on who that cat is Fishclan could remain and live for moons after or it could be obliterated completely. The choice is yours." "What do you mean?" "I mean say for example in a few moons only Berrystar is left of Fishclan. Berrystar could recreate Fishclan and let it live on or he could abandon his true nature and Fishclan would never be heard of again. Berrystar of course might not be the cat left. It could be any of the cats." Fishclan cats were nodding. "What do we do now?" asks Ashstorm. Berrystar was about to reply when he was interrupted by Sparrowfur's screech. We fight the badgers at the edge of the mountains." "What?" Every cat turned and there was loads of badgers all with sharp teeth and long claws plunged towards the sitting clan. 

Book 6 - Chapter 1

"What do you decide?" asked Darkfinch. "Am I allowed to ask a few questions?" asked Berrystar?" "Fine," Darkfinch muttered. "Who is fighting?" "Up to you. It could either be all your cats vs all my cats or one cat vs one cat." "How long would they fight?" "It would be a fight to the death. The cat who survives wins." "What happens after the fight?" "It depends on who wins. If we win we get to chose 3 cats to join our side. If you win you get to chose 3 cats from our side." Berrystar was nodding. "Ok but it has to be 1 on 1." Darkfinch beckoned a white and tan tom. "This is Liontail my deputy. He will fight the cat that you chose to fight him." Berrrystar nodded. "Ottertail. You will fight Liontail. Ottertail is one of my deputies." "Ready, Set, Fight." Liontail bared his teeth and crouched. Ottertail met his gaze. Berrystar noticed the glint of silver on Liontail's claws. He had taken stars into his soul. No cat could touch him. No cat could harm him. Ottertail hissed. Liontail lunged for Ottertail's throat. Ottertail ducked. But Liontail jumped neatly on her spine. He aimed to sick his fangs into her neck. She threw him off and lunged but her claws struck empty air. She gasped. Liontail grinned. He charged and his claws met her pelt. She shrieked. Liontail darted back before delivering a paw to her ears. Brightpool lunged for Liontail's throat and to met air. Liontail dodged and neatly flipped her on her back before tearing out clumps of fur. She fell to the ground. Ottertail threw herself at Liontail and he clamped his teeth into her forepaw scraping the bone. Ottertail screeched and Liontail clamped his teeth hard onto her tail. Ottertail screeched again. Then she fell still. Darkfinch was furious. "You clan mate broke the rules. It was supposed to be one on one. Not two against one. I insist that since Liontail won two battles that we get six of your cats." The Fishclan cats just watched with large eyes. 

Book 5 - Chapter 6

"Darkfinch." hissed Berrystar. "How did you find us?" "It was easy," replied Darkifnch. "When we were gathering a few days back, Hawkpelt," he nodded the brown cat forward, "Spotted a flash of white fur and smelled some new scents. When he looked again the cat was gone but in their haste to get away they left a patch of fur on the bramble bush and it smelled of Fishclan." "How could you tell it was Fishclan?" snarled Berrystar. "I could recognize by the scent. Also some of my cats used to live in Fishclan. Remember?" he pointed to Windshadow, Mistyfur, Greenwhisker and the others. Berrystar bared his teeth. Darkfinch returned his hiss. Serafina hissed and disappeared with a puff of smoke. "Scared are you?" taunted Darkfinch. "We aren't scared." retorted Berrystar. "Oh really?" Darkfinch signaled with his tail and the Tigers of Tigerclan came racing over the hill. "Either you can join us or fight us. You will get a choice. I have no quarrel with loners only clan cats." Darkfinch told the cat. The cat nodded and walked away. She raced over the mountains until she reached a hill. She shimmered until she vanished and a new star appeared in the horizon. "How many of you will join us?" asked Darkfinch. "But Serafina said…" "Serafina." scoffed Darkfinch. "Serafina lied. She lied when she was apart of Nightclan too." "She did?" Darkfinch nodded. "Who do you believe? The cat that killed his own family for power or me?" Serafina had reappeared. Darkfinch growled. Berrystar considered. "Still having doubts? Do you think you could fight us? Let me prove you wrong." Darkfinch flicked his ears and even more cats came into the clearing."Do you still think you can fight us and win? I will only give my offer once more. You can fight us or join us. It is up to you." Every cat looked at Berrystar waiting for what he would do. 

Book 5 - Chapter 5

"What was the twist?" asked Mossfur coming forward. "Well Darkfinch had everything he had ever wanted. A loyal deputy, a loyal senior warrior and an army of cats who would fight at his command. Darkfinch started to abuse his power. He sent patrols out to the most remote places and each cat got only 1 mouse and vole a day. Darkfinch knew his deputy or senior warrior wouldn't betray him and he was right they wouldn't. Darkfinch had more experience then any cat. He also had a secret. He killed more then just Cinderstar. Soon Darkfinch was killing the cats who betrayed him, who doubted his strength, cats who he didn't think were loyal. He destroyed the warrior code for a while. He killed his own family any way when they took more then their share when it was time to eat. Darkfinch thought they didn't like his ruling and were a threat and they would round up more cats to help over throw him so he killed them. He got the help of his most loyal warriors. Usually had his deputy and senior warrior help him eliminate cats. He always uses different methods to eliminate. He chooses the way to eliminate the cat by the way that he thinks is the worst. For his best friend when she doubted his decision he fed her a death berry. He killed over half the clan. He had about 25 cats when he decided to rid them all of the title clan. He vowed never to look to the stars, or the warrior code ever again. Soon most of the clan was terrified of being killed. Darkfinch would kill a cat if the cat spoke to him before he spoke to him or her. The clan decided to rival against him. 1/2 of the clan was still on Darkfinch's side. Some of them found a joy in killing the other cats. It was the first time they were good at something. The half of the cats that were against Darkfinch rallied other cats around and they exiled Darkfinch. Darkfinch kept his warrior name and his deputy and senior warrior joined him. They have joined forced with many cats. He has made promises to lots of cats. I was the cat who helped the clan exile him. I helped create a plan that worked. I was killed a month later by Darkfinch before I could help exile him. He knew I was a smart cat, he had grown up with me. He knew I could pull almost all of my plans off with some thoughts and planning. My plan did work, Darkfinch was exiled. Without me Darkfinch would be ruling over you in Nightclan, unless he had killed you already. I basically helped create the 4 clans. I did that before I died. Darkfinch then killed me when he found out what I was doing. He didn't know that I had other cats with me though, the other cats pretended to be loyal. I was before he killed me Darkfinch's best friend." "What is his weakness?" asked Mintclaw. Serafina sighed. "He doesn't…." "I can speak for myself Serafina. I don't have a weakness." It was Darkfinch and he was standing with 100's of cats at the edge snow covered ground. 

Book 5 - Chapter 4

"What?" asked Berrystar shocked. "I said either you can leave me alone and never speak of me in Fishclan again and I will know if you do speak of me, or you can ask me the questions and leave Fishclan forever. "What if I don't do either?" asked Berrystar slowly. "You will." replied the cat. "How do you know that I will?"snapped Berrystar. "You wouldn't want to disappoint your precious ancestors now would you?" said the cat in a baby voice. She looked up at the stars as they began to shimmer. Suddenly the stars were shooting towards the cats. The cats stared at the stars as they formed a shape. The shape ended up being a cat. "Serafina," the new cat greeted the star cat. "Who are you?" asked Berrystar boldly. The cat turned her gaze to him. "My name is Serafina." "Serafina." The name ran through the clan cats. Each cat crouched for Serafina. "What are you doing?" Berrystar snapped at his clan. "Did you not teach your clan about me. Did your clan learn by themselves what I did for the clans?" Berrystar stared. "Did you ever learn why Darkfinch was banned from the clans?" Fishclan shook their heads. "Then let me tell you a story about Darkfinch. We were all in a clan, it was called Nightclan. Nightclan prided themselves on being all clan born. No half clan cats could join, no kitty pets and no loners. There was no Waterclan, Riverclan, Mossclan or Fishclan. Only Nightclan. Darkfinch was the deputy the most trusted warrior of all. He loved his rank but he was ambitious he wanted more. He wanted to lead the whole clan. He would have been in charge of around 100 cats. He would basically have an army at his side, ready to fight anything at his command. Remember when Greenwhisker who was senior warrior when Oceanstar was leader told the leader of Waterclan that water clan could stay with Fishclan? Well it looks like Greenwhisker was already taking on a leader's responsibilities. It was the same with Darkfinch, except that our leader Cinderstar didn't exile him. Cinderstar was the age of an elder and probably thought of Darkfinch's help as a helping paw. Well when we were in the middle of a battle, some cats decided that that didn't like him and they wanted to see how ambitious he was. They gave Darkfinch a choice. He could kill his  clan leader or his whole family, his mother, brother and sister. It was obvious who Darkfinch chose. He killed Cinderstar, he had wanted the power ever since he became a warrior. He chose Liontail as his deputy, and Hawkpelt as his senior warrior and then he went on to lead his clan. But then there was a twist."
