Book 2 - Chapter 5

Tigerstar stood his ground and let out a threatening hiss. Darkfinch didn't even flinch. He stood there and let his gaze pass over the cowering cats near the edge of the swamp. Darkfinch let out a snort. "How did you find us?" spat Hollowstripe. "Not ALL YOUR cats are loyal Hollowstripe. However my cats stay by my side at all times." replied Darkfinch smoothly. "Loyal?" echoed Hollowstripe. "Yes LOYAL," sneered Darkfinch. "What do you mean?" asked Sparrowfur coming to stand shoulder to shoulder with Hollowstripe. "I mean…" "What?" asked Brightpool threateningly. "Let me finish." snarled Darkfinch. The cats shifted nervously. Dragonwhisker and Whisperwind crouched to spring at Darkfinch. "STOP!" came Tigerstar's command. "We need to know what he means, and he won't tell us if you attack him." he added when he saw their shocked faces. "Please continue Darkfinch," said Tigerstar as politely as he could. Darkfinch narrowed his eyes. "I mean some of your cats have chosen the better side. They have come to join me." "WHO?! Would abandon Tigerstar?" asked a shocked Hollyflower. "Cats who believe I am a better leader." replied Darkfinch. "There is no such cat from our group." Mintclaw shot back. "Actually there are. Come out show your LEADER which side you have joined. The BETTER side the side that you will actually BENEFIT from being on." Some cats nervously padded forward. It was Windshadow, Reedriver, Sandswish, Spottedfur, Snowhare, Echomist, and Blossompaw. The cats assembled gasped. "Well is there an explanation?" asked an impatient Tigerstar. Sandswish nodded. "What is it?" asked Tigerstar flicking his tail. "We each have our own explanation." said Spottedfur. "Then I want to know all of them," responded Tigerstar. The cats nodded. "Follow me," ordered Tigerstar leading up the hill. Darkfinch padded and followed. "Well?"  prompted Tigerstar.
